Links to state bar associations in the USA - The only weakness in these websites is that they do not always comment thoroughly on subjects of interest to the layman, they are geared toward the interests of lawyers. The ABA does, however, post a page to orient the layman seeking to do some self help. See the second link for that page. |

State of Texas Bar Association |
Website of the State of Texas Bar Association. Highly informative. Does not comment much in comment field about those lawyers that are disbarred or suspended even when basic information is disclosed, such as dates of suspension. It is not the equivalent of a badlawyers.com website, but like the ABA (see above) is geared to the interests of practicing attorneys. With this in mind, it is a useful tool for looking up information about Texas attorneys. You can search by name or bar card number. Since the State Bar is the regulating agency for lawyers it is important that all citizens know what the bar is doing. In recent news, as of June 1, 2005 the Texas bar will no longer require that attorneys use of the disclaimer "Unless otherwise indicated not certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization" in all their public ads. This change to Rule 7.04 of the Texas Professional Rules of Disciplinary Conduct will cause some confusion for a while, but the print media should be fully up to date within a year or so from its effective date. |

Child Protective Services, CPS, has devastated and destroyed hundreds of thousands of families in America during the last thirty years leaving a trail of broken hearts, broken dreams, and shattered childhoods. It is the opinion of the editor that the laws governing this agency need drastic reform at federal and state levels. |
